Arthur Ellis Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 18, 2025.
Arthur George Ellis was born on February 3, 1954, in San Bernardino, California, to Marjorie Helen Reddick Ellis and Arthur Cox Ellis. He was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on November 7, 2025, in West Valley City, leaving behind his beloved wife of 44 years. He was 71 years old.

Arthur passed away after spending over three months in the hospital due to a traumatic brain injury and its numerous complications. Despite the challenges, he remained surrounded by the unwavering love of his family every step of the way.

Arthur is survived by his devoted wife, Karyn Ellis; his sons, Joshua and Thomas Ellis; his daughters, Jennifer Davis and Andrea Carlson; his wonderful sons-in-law, George Davis and Dana Carlson; and his favorite daughter-in-law, Miriam Ellis. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandsons Daniel, Aston, Lochlan, Declan, Kiernan, and Bryceson, and his granddaughters Alexis, Gwynneth, Rosslyn, and Scarlette. His great-grandchildren, Violet and Eloise (who was born five days after Arthur's passing and never had the chance to meet her great-grandfather on earth), are a testament to the legacy he leaves behind. In addition, Arthur cherished many spiritual sons, daughters, and grandchildren who brought him immense joy. His beloved sister, Sharon Jensen, and brother-in-law Kieth Jensen. Plus, numerous nieces and nephews-were all dear to him. Arthur's family also extends to many more sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews from his wife's side, whom he considered his own.

Arthur was the second of four children. The family faced tragedy early on with the loss of his eldest sister, Jeannie, who sadly passed away in infancy. He grew up sharing his days with his younger brother, Roger, and his youngest sister, Sharon, forging bonds that would last a lifetime. Roger was a significant presence in Arthur's life until 1984, when Roger lost his life in the Wilberg Mine disaster at the age of 28-a profound loss that deeply impacted the family. Sharon, the youngest sibling, maintained a close and cherished relationship with Arthur throughout his life.

On March 28, 1981, Arthur married the love of his life after meeting her on a blind date the previous December. The blind date orchestrated by his sister Sharon. Their marriage blossomed into a beautiful family with three children: Thomas, Jennifer, and Andrea. Their love and commitment were the foundation of a home filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering support.

Arthur was a proud Marine, serving his country during the Vietnam War with a high security clearance. His experiences during this time shaped his sense of duty and resilience, qualities that he carried throughout his life. Privy to top secret information, Arthur was steadfast in his loyalty and patriotism, exemplifying the spirit of an American soldier and a devoted citizen.

He learned the trade of electrician in the Marine Corps, a skill he continued to hone throughout his life. Arthur took great pride in being a "sparky," always willing to help friends and family with their electrical needs, and taking joy in lending a hand whenever he could.

Arthur's passions were as vast as the mountains he loved. He found solace and excitement in the great outdoors-fishing, camping, and hunting were among his favorite activities. His favorite color was the mountains, a reflection of his deep connection to nature's beauty. Many family vacations were spent camping under the stars, exploring new trails, or simply taking a scenic drive through mountain roads to relax and unwind. His love for animals was evident, especially his fondness for horses, wolves, eagles, bears, and his dogs-Red, Chili, and Pepper. Riding his Harley brought him freedom and joy, and he treasured those rides whenever his health allowed.

Arthur was a loving, caring, and generous man-honest to a fault and a fiercely loyal friend. He was a devoted grandfather, great-grandfather, husband, father, brother, and uncle, for whom nothing was more important than family. His every heartbeat was for those he loved, and all he did was for their happiness. Next to his faith in God, his family was his greatest treasure.

Arthur is preceded in death by his sister Jeannie, his father Arthur, his brother Roger, and his mother Marjorie. Their memories remained close to his heart, guiding and comforting him throughout his life's journey.

No flowers, please.

Flowers are lovely, it's true-

but they belong in the sun, not subdued.

Let's not pluck beauty just to decay,

not on a day when life has already slipped away.

Don't spend money on petals that fade,

on blooms that wilt by the time they're laid.

If you feel moved to give, we won't turn away-

but let it be something that will for longer stay.

A living plant, rooted and strong,

a memory that lingers, a life that lives on.

Let it grow with the love that remains,

a quiet reminder to my cherished family in life it sustains!
