I still think of Gerteis Motors from time to time here in Globe, AZ where we still have old VW's running on the street. Hoping Hans and all the family are well.

I have known Arthur Gerteis for over 30 years and knew him as a very kind and generous man. He loved his formula V racing with a passion and he was an avid friend to the Shreveport Police Dept. When I was on SPD in the early 70's I drove a VW and the engine blew up. I took it to him and he would only let me pay for the parts, the labor was free. His son Hans and I became great friends. Over the years the friendship lasted and he will be greatly missed by many people whom he touched. Rest in peace my friend.

Sorry to here of Mr. Gerteis passing away. I went to school with Eva and Hans at Fair Park. Gerteis vw shop was always in our conversations back then when several of us drove beetles. My wife and I enjoyed visiting Hans and his dad 4 or 5 years ago at the shop when we were in Shreveport visiting family. Our prayers are with your family. Rest in peace Mr. Gerteis.
