Obituary of Arthur T. Hickling
April 1, 1941 - June 12, 2025
Arthur T. Hickling. Age 84 of Southgate.
Beloved husband of Victoria Hickling. Loving father of Daniel (Claudia) Hickling and David Hickling. Dearest grandfather of Angel, Julieann, Rachel and Elijah. Dear brother of Kenneth Hickling and Ross (Cheryl) Hickling.
Arthur grew up in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, where he was the second oldest of five children. He attended school there through high school before moving to the United States to be with his then-girlfriend, Vicky. He worked as an optician for 25 years before running his own small delivery business for another 25 years. His sons often helped out as employees when needed.
Arthur was well known for his gift of conversation-whether talking with people he knew or striking up a chat with complete strangers. He shared his joy openly, rooted deeply in his faith and love for family. A God-fearing man, he made his beliefs evident in his daily life. Arthur loved his family just as deeply as he loved God-though his pond may have come in a very close second.
He was a joyful man who lived a long and fulfilling life surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, dear friends, and his beloved church, Christ The King Lutheran. He spent much of his time there, serving as a longtime elder and helping with weddings alongside his wife.
