Arthur Hotvedt Obituary

Arthur L. Hotvedt, age 97, of Eau Claire, passed away on Thursday, March 27 at Dove Healthcare – West in Eau Claire. Art was born on October 4, 1927 to Laurence and Gladys Hotvedt.

Art attended grade school in Sparta and graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1945.

He served in the Wisconsin State Guard, the United States Army and the Wisconsin National Guard. He attended Ripon College, Eau Claire State Teachers' College, Eau Claire Vocational School, the University of Alabama and the International Accounting Society in Chicago, where he graduated with a degree in accounting. Art worked for Bertelson Co. (now Wipfli) as a C.P.A. for 34 years, retiring in 1983.

He married Dorothy Van Gorder in 1956 and they had two sons, Charlie and Steve. Art and Dorothy were married 67 years when Dorothy passed away on April 27, 2024.

Art was a 33rd Degree Mason and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, summers at their cottage and wintering in Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 3 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1804 Highland Ave., Eau Claire with Pastor Christine Emerson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire.
