Arthur Douglas Machado, 81, of Zillah WA passed away on 1/20/2026 peacefully at home. Art was born on June 16th 1944 to Arthur and Wanda Machado. He was a devoted husband to Carol Machado and loving father to Megan Rockwell and Ken Hayden.
Dad was hardworking and dedicated. He spent 25 years working as a truck driver where he achieved an award for driving for two million miles without any accidents. Dad was good at many things and was lucky enough in life to be able to fly planes, be a police officer, insurance claims adjuster, flower delivery driver, own a tow truck company (ArJo Towing) and a restaurant (Country Connection) He was also known for his quick whit and providing help to anyone who needed it.
Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and a good day of fishing.
Dad’s hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed flying, Thursday breakfasts with his friends, car races , driving a side by side, 4th of July bbq’s, and most of all he enjoyed fishing any chance he got.
He is survived by his wife Carol, sisters Pat (Bill), Theresa, Deanna (Frank), daughter Megan (Randy), chosen son Ken (Becca), grandchildren Gunnar, Mitchell, Jaxon, Gavin and Austin as well as many other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Dad was blessed with many friends that over the years turned into family, that included his best friends Russ and Lisa Morgan. Some of his most enjoyable times were working with Russ and spending time with him and Lisa at their home. Art’s children are especially grateful to Russ and Lisa for including him, and us, into their family. They both truly meant a lot to our dad.
Celebration of life will be held at Valley Hills, Yakima, Sunday, February 8th at 10 am.
