Duane McAtee, age 81 longtime resident of the Solon – North Liberty area died Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa.
Services celebrating Duane's life will be held at 6pm Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the Solon United Methodist Church, where there will be a time of visitation from 3 pm until services on Thursday. A light reception will follow. Burial at a later date at the Troy Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial donations can be made in Duane's honor to Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa. HIs family includes his sons, Ron McAtee, Dustin McAtee and his wife, Alissa; two grandchildren, Myla Pierce (Tina) and Shane McAtee (Kerstin); special family, Karla Cole (Ken) and their family; sisters-in-law, Marge McAtee and Shirley McAtee; brothers-in-law, Ed Osborn and Floyd Studt (Kris); and many other family and friends.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd & Ina McAtee; wife, Anna; Sisters, Sharon Osborn and Rita McCartney; brothers, Ronald, Gary, Larry, and Jerry McAtee.

I'm sorry to hear of Duane's passing. He was always so pleasant and fun to be around. He knew how to charm all the guests and staff/vendors at Back Porch Pickers and always brought out smiles. Rest well.
