Arthur D. McDonald

Arthur D. McDonald, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 2, 2026. He was born in Schenectady, NY on July 24, 1947, to Willard and Margaret McDonald.
Art was an engineer for NY Telephone, which later became Verizon, for 30 years, retiring in 2000. After retiring, you could find him working for his brothers either bartending or working on the many projects they had. He was a member of Eagle Matt Lee Fire Co. No 1 in Ballston Spa and served as a Ballston Spa Village Trustee.
Art was an avid runner and Beach Boys fan. He enjoyed vacations in Hilton Head with all the McDonald's and playing Minnows Come Home with the kids. Art was a jolly guy who always had a friendly wave and a smile for everyone.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and son. Art is survived by his wife of 56 years Christine, daughters Jen McDonald and Kirsten Pivirotto (John), grandsons Eric Cipolla (Devon) and Griffin Pivirotto, great grandson Rocco Cipolla, brothers Bill McDonald, Jack McDonald, Dennis McDonald, and Dave McDonald (Cindy), and many nieces and nephews. Art was predeceased by his parents Willard and Margaret Griffin McDonald, and his sister Nancy Nappi.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, January 6 from 5pm to 7pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 9:30am Wednesday, January 7 at St. Mary's Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Art may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205.
