Karen Lee Sutton

Karen Lee Sutton of Saratoga Lake, New York passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026 at Saratoga Hospital. Karen was born June 21, 1943, in Canton, New York to Ernest and Eleanor Sutton who were married while Ernie was in the army. She grew up living at the Robinson Apartment House on East Street in Galway Village and then on Jockey Street where "Ernie and El" built their home.

Karen followed the profession of her dad Ernie who taught math and science at Galway High until he retired in 1980. Karen and her brothers David and John all graduated from Galway High. Karen attended Oneonta State University and later got her Master's Degree at the State University of Albany.

Her first job teaching was at Nott Terrace Elementary in Schenectady and then Shenendehowa's Okte School. She then obtained an administrator's certificate and became the principal at Perth Elementary School in Fulton County.

Karen is predeceased by her parents Ernest and Eleanor Sutton as well as her brother David. She is survived by her brother John, sister in law Beth Ruman of Galway, and sister in law Elke Sutton of Saratoga Lake as well as her nieces and nephews.

Karen will be remembered for the joy she had traveling the world which she made her "retirement pleasure" and the friends and companions she met and became close to along the way.

A celebration of life for Karen will be held in the Spring.
