Arthur Forrest Morrison

Arthur Forrest Morrison of Port William Ohio, a devoted father, grandfather, and dedicated public servant, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026 at the age of 71.

Born December 28, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Claude Earcel Morrison and Wanda Elaine Chamberland Morrison.

Arthur's life stood as a testament to the value of hard work. For 36 years, he brought precision and patience to Mac Tools/Stanley Works as a tool and die maker, where colleagues admired him for a level of craftsmanship that was truly second to none. Yet, that same drive eventually led him to pursue a lifelong dream. In 2000, Arthur was sworn in as an axillary police officer for the Village of Port William. He was promoted to Police Chief the following year, serving the community with integrity for over 16 years before his retirement. His career was defined by a deep sense of duty, earning him the lasting respect of both his peers and the citizens he protected.

Beyond his professional life, Arthur's heart belonged to his family. His greatest pride lived in his daughters, Michelle Morrison and Victoria Layman, and his legacy of kindness continues through his two granddaughters, Kaitlyn Sannan and Freya Garrigus.

Arthur had a remarkable ability to connect with people, the kind of man who met the world with a gentle smile and never hesitated to offer a helping hand. He lived with a clear sense of purpose, loved his family deeply, and protected his community with unwavering dedication. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Monday, March 23, 2026 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. A funeral service with Pastor Virgil Hawkins officiating will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Maple Grove Cemetery, Port William, Ohio.
