Arthur Moss Obituary
Jacksonville - Arthur L. Moss, 73, of Jacksonville passed away Friday, July 18, 2025 at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. He was born May 26, 1952 in Jacksonville the son of LeRoy and Hazel Hoots Moss. He is survived by his mother, Hazel Moss of Jacksonville; his son, John (Molly) Moss of Springfield; four grandchildren, Johnny, Zoey, Waylon and Hazel. He was preceded in death by his father LeRoy Moss and his sister, Ellen Moss.
Art became an Auctioneer and worked with his father in the family business, Moss Auctions where he conducted auctions over a five state area, including Illinois, Iowa and Missouri. He was also a farmer in the Woodson/Jacksonville areas having raised cattle and horses. Art retired from the Illinois Secretary of States Office in Springfield. He was a member of White Hall Masonic Lodge #80, Scottish Rite-Valley of Springfield, Ansar Shrine and Rasna Shrine Club.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial at Bloomfield Cemetery near Winchester. The family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.

Art and I had a great friendship for 30 years, I don't know what happened but I hadn't seen him in a few years, we did breakfast twice a month for a long time, I loved him and truly missed his friendship. Rest in peace my friend. I have missed hearing if I was any happier I'd be twins. Sorry for your loss John and family.

Art will be greatly missed. He was kind and gentle soul who i cared deeply for,and my heart is heavy with sorrow. I'm so sorry I didn't get to say bye. We were connected from grade school through our entire life's and he will be missed.
