Arthur Noel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 16, 2024.
Arthur Bagwell Noel, 72, of Mount Pleasant, SC, formerly of Nashville, TN, died peacefully at home on July 5. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hopkins Noel, Jr. (Andromedia Bagwell); his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hopkins Noel (Frances Boensch) and Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Luther Bagwell (Lillie Moore), all of Nashville, TN. He is survived by his daughter, Brittany Jade Noel of Las Vegas, NV, Joanne Deal Fitch, of Mount Pleasant, SC, Jeanne Fitch DuBois (Keith), and Lila DuBois, of Charleston, SC; two brothers, John Hopkins Noel III (Melinda Welton) and Lee Francis Noel (Emily Jordan), both of Nashville, TN; two nieces, Christina Noel Page (John) and Emily Noel Sanderson (Cory), both of Nashville, TN; three nephews, John Edward Noel of Atlanta, GA, Andrew Dunn Noel (Dixie Sisk) of Hood River, OR, and Lee Francis Noel, Jr. (Caroline Whittemore) of Nashville, TN; and eight great-nieces and great-nephews. Arthur attended Parmer School, Montgomery Bell Academy, and graduated from Hillsboro High School, class of 1970. He attended St. Andrew's College. Arthur was a man of creative wit, masterful memory, unique personality, and he never met a stranger. He was a music aficionado and possessed a vast knowledge of the musical world. He was masterful on the harmonica, even playing on national television with Charlie Daniels and his lifelong friend, Tommy Crain. Arthur loved tennis, and he was a team player and a tremendous athlete. He was an expert boater, skier, and scuba diver. As a young boy, he treasured his summers at the family farm. Arthur was a lover of animals and his beloved dogs, General and Red. Most of all, he loved his family and never missed a "Noel gathering." The high point of Arthur's life was in 1985 when his daughter, Brittany Jade, was born. He was a devoted and loving father who did not mind besting her on Panama City beach runs and cheering her on at track meet finish lines. Although a Nashville native, he loved Charleston and fully embraced his life in the Lowcountry. He walked the beaches, took in the sunset over Charleston Harbor, and loved to watch the tides moving through the marshes and the moon rising over the Atlantic Ocean. Art's life ended on a high note. The family has planned a memorial service honoring Arthur's life. They invite friends to a reception in Cheek House at First Presbyterian Church of Nashville at 1pm on Saturday, August 3, followed by a memorial service in Stanford Chapel at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to TennGreen Land Conservancy in his name, sent to 1213-A 16th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37212

Shortly after moving in next door to Arlo on Lone Oak, Arlo greeted us from his back deck, just after coming out his hot tub, wearing nothing but smile!

I met Arthur when he became our customer. He had an incredible personality and was a joy to visit with. He would speak to everyone in the shop and not only did he always have a smile, he made you smile. He was just in the shop recently and I had made him promise to join us for the big car show in Hilton Head this year. Our sincere condolences to the family and we will be praying for your comfort during this difficult time. The crew at Hudson´s will miss our buddy Arthur.
