Arthur O'Mary Obituary

A Sweet Ole Boy, Gone Too Soon

Arthur "Art" O'Mary Jr., age 79, of Oatmeal, Texas, saddled up and rode off into the sunset on August 30th, 2025, leaving behind a trail of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13th, at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive in Georgetown, Texas.

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on September 24, 1945, to Arthur Lee O'Mary Sr. and Clara Bobbie O'Mary, Art grew up with a strong heart and a love for country roots. He was raised in Denison, Texas, where his story first began-and what a story it turned out to be.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Art honorably served two tours, including two Christmases, in Vietnam with a helicopter company. His dedication and bravery stood as tall as any Texas oak. After returning home, he earned degrees and certifications from Texas A&M Commerce and SMU, showing that his grit extended far beyond the battlefield.

Art's railroad journey began as a clerk for the MKT (Katy Railroad), where he climbed the ranks to Director of Negotiations before the merger with Union Pacific in 1988. He later became National Accounts Manager and ultimately Senior Business Manager of Industrial Products-rounding out a legendary 38-year career. He was the kind of man who could talk business in the boardroom and swap stories by the campfire all in the same day.

But the true treasures of Art's life weren't measured in job titles-they were found in simple moments: two trailers parked beside each other at Lake LBJ and later Lake Texoma with Grammy Pammy, BJ and the triplets, golden hour sunsets at "Lucky O" with cherished friends, and getaways to Fredericksburg and Warrenton/Round Top with Pam. His joy multiplied around his triplet granddaughters, whose lives he shaped with his wisdom, wit, and his classic cowboy charm. Art lived a life filled with gratitude. His crystal blue eyes crinkled when he smiled at you; when he shook your hand or hugged you, you felt it deeply. He loved being outdoors- fishing, hunting, biking, hiking or sipping on a Shiner. His peaceful place was on his tractor or buggy working on their land.

Art was a sweet ole boy with a gentle heart, sharp mind, and a twinkle in his eye that told you he had a story you needed to hear. Whether he was telling tall tales, grilling with a Keystone Light in hand or watching the sun dip low over Texas hills, he lived life big and loved even bigger.

He is preceded in death by his father Arthur Lee O'Mary Sr., mother Clara Bobbie O'Mary and brother Bobby Lee O'Mary.

Art is survived by the love of his life Pamela O'Mary, his son Calvin Allison and wife Susan, daughters Karla Broyles, BJ O'Mary and Brandee O'Mary, triplet granddaughters Montana, Mayson, and Mykal Montgomery, his bonus Daughter Avery Kristinik and husband Jeff Brister and brothers-in-law Marc and Brad Childers.

The family would like to thank all of the friends and loved ones who continue to offer prayers, strength and love throughout this unexpected journey and the incredible doctors and staff at Dell Seton UT.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or American Heart Association in Art's memory.

"The last goodbye is the hardest to say... That's when the cowboy rides away."

Ride easy, Art/Dad. We'll meet you again at the campfire, under a Texas sky.
