Arthur "Art" Fidel Pacheco, born on November 25, 1941, peacefully passed away on August 26, 2025, in Las Vegas, NM.

Art was born in Mosquero, NM, to Francisco and Margarita Pacheco. He was raised in Mosquero, Rocky Ford, CO, Hardesty, OK, and Tucumcari, NM. He returned to Mosquero and graduated with the Class of 1962. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving honorably during the Vietnam Era from 1963 to 1967.

After his discharge, Art returned to Mosquero where he worked as City Marshal, barber, bartender, ice plant worker, and on the Harding County road crew. During this time, he married Pauline Archuleta, and together they began their family. Wanting to provide greater stability, Art enrolled at New Mexico Highlands University, completing a four-year education degree program in just three years. He went on to teach at Mosquero Schools for 27 years, serving as a classroom teacher, special education teacher, coach, and athletic director.

Art was an active member of the community. He belonged to the American Legion in Mosquero and served as a volunteer firefighter, city council member, and mayordomo for St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, drawing and painting, woodworking, watching westerns, and being a true "MacGyver." Above all, Art loved visiting with family and friends. He was happiest when his home was filled with guests, laughter, and conversation.

In 2005, Art began teaching special education at Anton Chico under Santa Rosa Consolidated Schools, where he served for seven years before retiring. While in Anton Chico, he proudly joined American Legion Post 101, where friends became family, and worked to help establish a Sons of the American Legion squadron.

Art is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Margarita; his beloved wife, Pauline; his sister Escolastica "Lala" Martinez and brother-in-law Conrado; his brothers Felipe (Celina), Juan (Josie), Alfredo, Andres, and Henry; brother-in-law Victor Arguello; sister-in-law Helen Pacheco; and his special nephew, Jose Abenicio Martinez.

He is survived by his brothers Frank Pacheco (Bonnie) of Kingman, AZ, and Cleofes Pacheco of Tucumcari; his sister Gloria Arguello of Tucumcari; his children Martin Pacheco (Susana) of Los Lunas, Andres Pacheco (Stephanie) of Las Vegas, and Margarita Montaño (Daniel) of Anton Chico. He was a proud grandfather to Lorenzo Pacheco, Tatiana Rosas (Adrian), Alondra Pacheco (Emilio), Giana Pacheco, Daniel "Monte" Montaño, Briella Montaño, Damaris Hernandez; and a loving great-grandfather to Joseph "JJ", Abigail, Elijah, Miguel, Dominic, and Xavier, all of whom were the center of his world.

He also shared a special bond with his cousin Andres Salas (Barb) of Bosque Farms and his comadre Julie Martinez of Roy and special friend Toni McElroy of Logan. Surviving him as well are sisters-in-law Molly Pacheco and Rita Pacheco of Tucumcari, Delma Pacheco of Amarillo, TX, Tomasita Martinez of Mosquero, Adelina Acosta of Tucumcari, and brother-in-law NickArchuleta (Carrie) of Mosquero, along with many nieces and nephews whom he cherished dearly.

To all that he leaves behind, his family would like to say thank you for the support and unconditional love. "UNA MAS!"

Rosary will be recited on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 10:00am funeral mass will follow with both services to be held at St. Joseph's Church in Anton Chico, NM. Burial of cremains will be on September 16, 2025 at 11:00am at the Mosquero Cemetery.
