Arthur Boyd Peck, 88, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family.
Born on July 15, 1937, in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, Arthur Boyd was the son of Arthur Bywater Peck and Ida Josephine Osguthorpe Peck. The third of nine children, he cherished his siblings deeply and held great admiration for his parents. Both were teachers and postmasters in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho; his father also served four terms in the Idaho Legislature and honorably served in the U.S. Navy during both World War I and World War II.
Arthur Boyd was a father figure, mentor, and friend to many. His home and heart were always open, and he never met a stranger who didn’t quickly become a friend. Family was at the center of everything he did, and he made it a priority to show his unconditional love. He was steadfast, supportive, and present in countless ways throughout his life. A lifelong football fan, he especially loved cheering for his favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers.
In 1960, while living in the San Francisco Bay Area, Arthur Boyd met the love of his life, his “Irish Lassie”, Mary Ellen Kelly. They married on September 11, 1965, and built a beautiful life together, raising three children—Michelle, Michael, and Melissa—and treasured every moment with their six grandchildren: Jensen, Rylee, Jaidyn, Ashlin, Lorin, and Presley.
Our time with Arthur Boyd will forever remain one of life’s greatest blessings. His passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who loved and knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Ida Peck; his sisters, Bette Peck Bell and Maurine Peck Potter; and his grandson, Jensen Scott Christensen.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ellen Kelly Peck; their children, Michelle (Wade) Sharp, Michael (Belinda) Peck, and Melissa Richard; and five grandchildren, Rylee, Jaidyn, Ashlin, Lorin Sharp, and Presley Richard. He is also survived by six siblings: Kathy Palmer, Jerry (Darlynn) Peck, Ginger Wilkerson, Bill Peck, Nicky Bledsoe (Wayne Potter), Maury Peck (Brian Rouke), and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
Military honors and a graveside service will be held in his memory on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow, with a cocktail hour and luncheon at the Peck residence. All are welcome to join us in honoring his memory.
