Arthur C. Popham Jr.

Arthur C. Popham, Jr. died peacefully at age 94 on September 23rd, 2009. He was a partner and director of The Popham Law Firm, established by his father in 1918. Art was a flyer, writer, hunter, photographer, and inventor. His book STALKING GAME FROM DESERT TO TUNDRA was a collection of 50 years of feature articles written for OUTDOOR LIFE. He was a member of the Boone and Crockett Club, Shakir Safari, Campfire Club, Safari Club International and was a charter member of The Carriage Club. The big game specimens he collected for the Kansas City Museum's natural habitat groups were housed in the wing named Popham Hall in his honor. Art will long be remembered for his inventive mind, penchant for Latin puns, banjo riffs, and recipe for the Perfect BLT. He is survived by his beloved wife Phoebe, his daughters Carole McKnight and Melinda Benton and stepdaughter Kristin Bowen, six grandchildren, and six greatgrandchildren. A memorial Service will be held Saturday, Sept. 26, 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of Country Club Christian Church, 6100 Ward Parkway.
