Arthur F Smith, age 78, resident of Littleton, MA passed away December 14th, 2022 at home after battling colon cancer.

He was born on April 3, 1944, in Boston, Massachusetts. Arthur was a loving husband to Carol (Auger) Smith for 56 years and a devoted father to Eric Smith of Wooster, OH and Amy Smith-Remillard of Groton, MA. He was a proud grandfather to Grace and Chad Remillard and Maeve and Rhys Florence-Smith. Arthur is predeceased by his parents Fredrick and Mary Smith of Massachusetts, brother Jan Smith, of Vermont and survived by his sister Judy Auger, of Montana.  His memory is also carried in the hearts of his dearest friend Chet Cook of Westford, MA, and by his son and daughter in-laws, Jason and Monica, as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and the students and employees whom he mentored.

In his leisure time, Arthur enjoyed golfing at the Oak Hill Country Club, caring for and improving the home he built for his family, and spending time with his many beloved dogs especially his English Springer Spaniels.

Arthur graduated from Chelmsford, MA, high school in 1962.  He began working in his father’s hardware store at a young age.  He served in the Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970.  As a craftsman and business owner, Arthur was a skilled plumber and devoted leader who cared for his employees' safety above all else.  Starting his career in 1964 and becoming a master plumber in 1973, he founded and owned Littleton Plumbing and Heating. While a business owner, he also served as plumbing and gas inspector in Groton, MA and finished his career serving as plumbing and gas inspector in Westford, MA, after 40 years of dedication.

Arthur took great pride in producing and maintaining things in the very best way he could imagine.  In addition to his work as a plumber, Arthur was a plumbing teacher at Nashoba Valley Technical High School (1974-1976).

Arthur was known for his dedicated work ethic, his focus on honesty and quality, and his ability to problem-solve. He lived by his favorite sayings: "plan your work and work your plan," "measure twice, cut once," and "I am doing the very best that I can."

Arthur will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
