Colin Bjarni Murphy

Colin Bjarni Murphy passed away unexpectedly on September 22, 2025, at the age of 31.

Colin graduated from Nashoba Valley Technical High School in 2013. He went on to proudly serve for six years with the Army Reserve’s 94th Military Police. He continued his lifelong commitment to helping people as a corrections officer at FMC Devens and later as a police officer for the Veterans Affairs in Jamaica Plain.

Colin was known for his humor, warmth, and ability to light up any room he walked into. He always had a good joke ready to go, a contagious laugh, and a gift of making anyone smile even on their hardest days. Beyond his career, his favorite thing was spending time with his family. He enjoyed playing hockey, camping, hiking, and running, and his happiest memories were his annual trips with the Back Bay Mountain Club up to Hermit Island every year, his favorite place in the world.

Above all, Colin loved being a father. There was nothing he cherished more than his two sons, Cody and Cole, who were the lights of his life. He worked tirelessly to provide for them and carried a deep, unwavering love that they will always hold in their hearts.

Colin is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Dr. Joseph and Janet Murphy, and his maternal grandfather, Bjarni Bjornsson. He is survived by his wife, Brittney Stumpf, sons Cody Joseph (6) and Cole Dylan (2) Murphy of Leominster, his parents Dr. Richard and Audur Murphy of Ayer, his sister Anna Lanteigne and her husband Matt of Townsend, brother Ian Murphy and his wife Flynn of Alexandria, Virginia, and maternal grandmother (Amma) Ingibjorg Sigurbjornsdottir of Iceland. He also leaves behind nephews Grayson, Tucker, and Hudson Lanteigne and Lincoln Murphy, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whom he loved and cherished immensely.

To know him was to love him, and Colin will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and joy he brought to everyone he came in contact with.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Colin for a period of visitation on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St., Littleton, MA. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at The Bull Run, 215 Great Rd., Shirley, MA (it is recommended to arrive at 10:30 am to allow ample time to park). The family extends an invitation to join them at 5:00 PM at The Billiards Cafe, 39 Main St., Ayer, MA. Colin’s burial will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
