Arthur Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sly Family Funeral Home on Apr. 3, 2025.
Arthur H. Smith was welcomed into the arms of Christ early in the morning of March 30, 2025. Born in Cleveland on October 18, 1941, to Kathleen and William, Art was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Kathleen.
Loving husband, father, grandfather, and steadfast friend, Art was surrounded by those he loved in the final weeks of his earthly life. After graduating from Kent State University with a degree in education, Art briefly taught physical education until he felt called to something greater.
He married his wife Linda, and they bought a farm in the country. Inspired by nature and led by God, he founded Meadow Ridge Events from a once-working dairy farm in the 1970s into a picturesque, family-run event venue that has hosted weddings and other celebrations in a serene setting for almost 50 years.
He built Meadow Ridge alongside Linda, his wife of 48 years, and with his two children – Nevada and Seneca. Art shared his love for the property with every couple, visitor, and guest who set foot there. Countless individuals were touched by Art and his faithful optimism and joy, and everyone who had the great fortune of knowing or meeting him felt his love for family, nature, and God.
He is survived by his wife Linda, son Nevada (Lisa), daughter Seneca (Matthew), and grandchildren Brian and Henry.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 9 at 3:00pm at Meadow Ridge Events, 17305 Mayfield Road, Windsor, Ohio 44099, with a reception immediately following.

I recall Mr. Smith, as he had involvement with Mr. Stigliano, and the boys softball team at Geauga Christian School, providing us a great field for practice and perhaps more. A true gentleman and a godly example to follow.

So saddened by the news....Art was one of the finest human beings I have known in my lifetime.....he enriched every life he touched. I grieve for Linda and the whole family. Jill Gloger

I was a young girl when I met Art. My memory that best represents his spirit is when I was riding my horse at night down on the side of the road when Art came by & stopped his car & asked why I was doing that. I told him I just argued with my parents. I was crying. He said come over & Linda, & us can talk about it.
I didn't go bc I didn't know his kind heart at the time. He said they waited up for me for an hour! They were worried I got hurt or something. I felt so bad. I know they would have had good advice for me.
Also, my parents loved Art & Linda when they moved to Meadow Ridge. Art & my Dad were good friends. We were always welcome at Meadow Ridge. Art left his stamp on our lives bc Jesus lived in Art's heart. Thank you God for Art Smith.
Family: peace as you mourn.

Art was so faithful at Geauga Christian School and Burton Assembly of God. We could always count on Linda and him to help in serving and he made fund raising fun also.
