Arthur Eugene Steelman, Jr., 98, of Odessa, Missouri passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Lutheran Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home 306 South Second Street Odessa, Missouri 64067. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 25, 2024, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Arthur was born December 23, 1925, in Odessa, Missouri to Arthur E. and Beulah (Yancey) Steelman, Sr. In 1943, he graduated from Farmers High School in Warrensburg, Missouri. After high school, he joined and proudly served in the United States Army and was a World War II veteran. After his service to his country, Arthur transitioned into the agricultural industry, where he honed his skills as a farmer and cattleman. From 1951 to 1976, Arthur was co-owner of Odessa Community Sale Barn, and from 1986 to 2001 he was co-owner of Johnson County Livestock Market. His profound passion for farming and livestock was a testament to his unwavering work ethic and love for the land. Arthur was united in marriage on August 10, 1951, to Mildred L. (Anderson) Steelman in Warrensburg, Missouri. She preceded him in death on June 11, 2001. Arthur was an active member of Long Branch Baptist Church. Arthur was a board member of Odessa Special Road District and Mt. Tabor Cemetery Association for many years.
Arthur is survived by a son, Ronnie (Debbie) Steelman of Odessa, MO; one grandchild, Allison L. (Nick Ziegler) Steelman of Odessa, MO; two great grandchildren, Grayson Ziegler and Avery Ziegler, one brother John Steelman of Kansas City, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Along with both parents and his loving wife, Arthur was preceded in death by a grandson, Cole E. Steelman, three brothers, Gordon Steelman, Jeff Steelman, and Roger Steelman.
