November 4, 1940 - April 24, 2021
Greensboro—Mr. Arthur Goodwin Sutherland III entered into Jesus' presence April 24, 2021 at his home. He was born in Charlotte, NC to the late Arthur Goodwin II and Sarah McClain Sutherland. Arthur graduated from ECU and received his bachelor's degree in business. He worked and retired from UNC-Charlotte. He was married to the late Ilvie Grey Sutherland.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Cardwell.
Arthur is survived by two sons and their wives: Ren Arthur (Kim) Sutherland of Brown Summit and Edward Sean (Bobbie) Sutherland of Pleasant Garden; one son-in-law, Thomas Cardwell of Charlotte; one sister, Linda Sutherland-Edwards of Wilmington; 5 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A service celebrating Arthur's life will be later on a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave., #100, Charlotte, NC 28207.
