Born in Augusta, Georgia on February 25, 1956, Marty was a son of the late James L. Taylor and the late Virginia A. Holton Taylor.

Marty grew up being used to traveling and moving to new places since his father's career involved moving from time to time, but he spent most of his life in Georgia. Marty had a carefree spirit. Despite his grumpy exterior, Marty had a kind heart. He loved his children and grandchildren very much.

Marty is survived by his wife, Theresa Sandefur Taylor; his five children, Joshua Taylor and wife Jackie of Ga., Brody Taylor and partner Tysun of Ga., Lisa Weinert and husband Jeromey of Ky., Jonna Smith of Ga., Chris Smith and wife Jalen of Wash.; his 12 grandchildren; his brother, James L Taylor Jr. and wife Melva of Ga.; and his aunt, Mary Holton-Marschalk of Ga.

In addition to his mother Virginia and his father James, Marty was preceded in death by his brother, Paul H. Taylor.

A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m., Monday, December 22, 2025, at the Family Worship Center, with Bro. David Hickerson, Bro. Kevin Hickerson, and Bro. Jody Emmons officiating. Family Worship Center is located at 17974 Morehead Road, Wallingford, KY 41093.
