Arthur Richard Zeitelhack
September 17, 1926 - October 8, 2022
Shawnee, Kansas - Arthur Richard Zeitelhack, son of Arthur and Marie (Corbett) Zeitelhack, was born on September 17, 1926, in Westfield, New Jersey. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944 at the age of 17. He graduated top of his training class and got his choice of assignment - off the coast of New York on a destroyer escort as a radio man during World War II. He received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Ohio University and was accepted into the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers. While he was in the New York area, he taught drumming and participated in a talent contest competing against, amongst others, Roddy McDowall. He met his idol, Buddy Rich, at a New York night club.
He would later become a computer programmer and systems analyst working for Western Electric, Lear Siegler, Bendix, the Kansas City Police department, and the United States Department of Agriculture, taking his family to Lee's Summit, MO, Grand Rapids, MI, and Kansas City, MO. In 1985, he received a patent for his Conserva Pencil Saver invention.
After teaching himself how to read notes and learn the piano, he continued with his love of music into retirement playing for various community events on keyboard with his own original arrangements.
He passed away peacefully on October 8, 2022, in Brookdale Rosehill retirement community in Shawnee, KS.
Arthur is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty (Zeitelhack) Deepers Judevine. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Patricia (Bazan) Zeitelhack, daughter Joan (Zeitelhack) Sigmon and son-in-law James Sigmon of Henderson, NV; son James Zeitelhack and daughter-in-law Anne (Dold) Zeitelhack of Overland Park, KS; and three grandchildren, Alissa Zeitelhack, Alexander Sigmon, and Avery James (AJ) Zeitelhack.
Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
