Artie Lee Pence, 84, Marion, passed away at 4:52 pm on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Wesleyan Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Sunday, September 14, 1941, to Cecil and Dorothy (Huffman) Pence.
Artie graduated from Marion High School and attended Morehead State University where he was a member of Pike Fraternity. He worked as an insurance agent for 40 years with State Farm Insurance, retiring May 1, 2006. As an agent, he was #1 in the whole state of Indiana and #3 in the whole nation, was in The President's Club, was a top qualifier with State Farm, and traveled the world because of his hard work and dedication. He loved all kinds of music, also loved The Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, and was an avid tennis player-he absolutely loved the game. Artie loved going to the beach and genuinely loved life!
Survivors include his daughter, Angela Pence of Ormond Beach, FL; stepchildren, Dacia (Michael) Contreras, Ryan (Nicole) Brown; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Sheri (Jerry) Morris; brother, Reggie Pence; special friend, Sharon Castillo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Otto and Dorothy Elizabeth Pence; sister, Adora Lynn Pence; and son, Jeffrey Lee Pence.
The family will receive visitors from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Artie's life will begin at 3:00 pm.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Marion High School boys' tennis team 750 W. 26th St., Marion, IN 46953 or the Marion-Grant County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1921, Marion, IN 46952.
