Arturo Garza Ramirez

Arturo Garza Ramirez, age 96, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas, on February 3, 2026.

He was born on August 13, 1929, in Bay City, Texas, to Guadalupe Ramirez and Amelia Garza. Arturo lived a long and meaningful life, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of faith, service, and devotion.

Arturo married the love of his life, Eva Quintanilla, in Matamoros, Mexico. For 72 beautiful years, she stood faithfully by his side. Together they built a loving family, raising three children and welcoming eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

In 1951, Arturo joined the United States Army and bravely served in the Korean War for two years. A decorated veteran, he was awarded the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal for his dedication to the defense of South Korea. He also received a Commander's Citation acknowledging his service with the words, "A job well done." Arturo deeply loved his country and appreciated the opportunities it afforded him, never seeking recognition in return.

Arturo dedicated 35 years of service to Dresser Industries. After retiring, and finding himself with time on his hands, he chose to return to work. He spent 10 years at the Grand Prairie Municipal Airport, where his honesty and diligence earned him the "Individual Achievement Award" in 2003. Known affectionately as "Mr. Lost & Found," Arturo faithfully turned in every item he found on the planes and airport grounds. When praised, he would humbly reply, "I was just doing my job."

For many years, Arturo was a devoted member of the Clarendon Spanish Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Dallas, Texas. He was remembered for his gentle, generous spirit and for warmly hosting congregation gatherings in his home. An excellent cook, he enjoyed watching baseball, football, and the Olympic Games every four years. Above all, he adored and tenderly cared for his beloved Chihuahua, Chico.

Arturo believed deeply in helping those less fortunate. He regularly assisted families seeking a fresh start, always encouraging them to work hard and build a better life. He instilled in his children and grandchildren the importance of education, often telling them, "Échenle ganas" - give it your all. They did, carrying forward his example of perseverance and integrity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe Ramirez and Amelia Garza; his siblings, Crispin Ramirez, Jose Angel Ramirez, Aurora Ramirez Gutierrez, and Maria de los Angeles Ramirez Elizondo; and two beloved grandchildren, Senobia Ortega and Leonardo Ortega.

Arturo is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Eva Ramirez, who lovingly cared for him until the end of his life; his children, Susanna R. Ramirez and her husband Mario R. Ramirez, Sonnia Ramirez Ortega, and Arturo Ramirez Jr. and his wife Araceli A. Ramirez; and his cherished grandchildren, Eric Ramirez, Veronica Ortega Luna, Vanessa Ortega, Esteban Ramirez, Andres Ramirez, Adan Ramirez, and Cecilia Mae Becerra. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.

Arturo lived a full and remarkable life. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his dedication to God, his community, and his family, and for his impeccable work ethic and compassionate heart. His life stands as a testimony of service, humility, and love.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Clarendon Spanish Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses or to HACE (Hispanic Association for Culture and Education) for students graduating from high school seeking to obtain a college degree.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 11:30am at Jeter & Son Funeral Home, Dallas, Texas

Military Honors & Internment is scheduled for Tuesday, February 24th at 1:15pm at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Arturo Garza Ramírez, de 96 años, falleció pacíficamente en presencia de su querida familia en el Hospital Metodista de Dallas, Texas, el 3 de febrero de 2026.

Nació el 13 de agosto de 1929 en Bay City, Texas, hijo de Guadalupe Ramírez y Amelia Garza. Arturo vivió una vida larga y significativa, dejando preciados recuerdos y un legado de fe, servicio y devoción.

Arturo se casó con el amor de su vida, Eva Quintanilla, en Matamoros, México. Durante 72 hermosos años, ella permaneció fiel a su lado. Juntos formaron una familia amorosa, criaron tres hijos y dieron la bienvenida a ocho nietos y diez bisnietos.

En 1951, Arturo se unió al Ejército de los Estados Unidos y sirvió valientemente en la Guerra de Corea durante dos años. Veterano condecorado, recibió la Medalla de Servicio de Corea y la Medalla de Servicio de las Naciones Unidas por su dedicación a la defensa de Corea del Sur. También recibió una Mención del Comandante en reconocimiento a su servicio con las palabras: "Un trabajo bien hecho". Arturo amaba profundamente a su país y apreciaba las oportunidades que le brindaba, sin buscar nunca reconocimiento a cambio.

Arturo dedicó 35 años de servicio a Dresser Industries. Tras jubilarse, y al encontrarse con mucho tiempo libre, decidió volver a trabajar. Pasó 10 años en el Aeropuerto Municipal de Grand Prairie, donde su honestidad y diligencia le valieron el "Premio al Logro Individual" en 2003. Conocido cariñosamente como "El Sr. de Objetos Perdidos", Arturo entregaba fielmente todo lo que encontraba en los aviones y en el aeropuerto. Cuando lo elogiaban, respondía con humildad: "Solo estaba haciendo mi trabajo".

Durante muchos años, Arturo fue un miembro devoto de la Congregación Hispana de Testigos de Jehová de Clarendon en Dallas, Texas. Se le recordaba por su espíritu amable y generoso, y por la cálida hospitalidad que ofrecía en su hogar para las reuniones de la congregación. Fue, un excelente cocinero, disfrutaba viendo beisbol, fútbol americano y los Juegos Olímpicos cada cuatro años. Sobre todo, adoraba y cuidaba con ternura a su querido chihuahua, Chico.

Arturo creía profundamente en ayudar a los menos afortunados. Ayudaba con regularidad a familias que buscaban un nuevo comienzo, animándolas siempre a trabajar duro y construir una vida mejor. Inculcó en sus hijos y nietos la importancia de la educación, diciéndoles a menudo: "Échenle ganas". Ellos lo hicieron, transmitiendo su ejemplo de perseverancia e integridad.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Guadalupe Ramírez y Amelia Garza; sus hermanos, Crispín Ramírez, José Ángel Ramírez, Aurora Ramírez Gutiérrez y María de los Ángeles Ramírez Elizondo; y dos queridos nietos, Senobia Ortega y Leonardo Ortega.

A Arturo le sobreviven su devota esposa durante 72 años, Eva Ramírez, quien lo cuidó con cariño hasta el final de su vida; sus hijos, Susanna R. Ramírez y su esposo Mario R. Ramírez, Sonnia Ramírez Ortega, y Arturo Ramírez Jr. y su esposa Araceli A. Ramírez; y sus queridos nietos, Eric Ramírez, Verónica Ortega Luna, Vanessa Ortega, Esteban Ramírez, Andrés Ramírez y Adán Ramírez. También le sobreviven numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas, bisnietos, familiares y queridos amigos.

Arturo vivió una vida plena y extraordinaria. Será recordado por su fe inquebrantable, su dedicación a Dios, a su comunidad y a su familia, y por su impecable ética de trabajo y su gran compasión. Su vida es un testimonio de servicio, humildad y amor. En lugar de flores, se pueden hacer contribuciones en su memoria a la Congregación Clarendon Spanish de los Testigos de Jehová (ver código QR) o a HACE (Asociación Hispana para la Cultura y la Educación) para becas para ayudar a estudiantes a llegar a su maxima potencial.

Los honores militares y el entierro están programados para el martes 24 de febrero a la 1:15 p. m. en el Cementerio Nacional de Dallas/Fort Worth.
