Arturo Rojas, 73, of Fresno, California, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on June 4, 2025.
Arturo was born on April 5, 1952, in Ysleta del Sur Pueblo, El Paso, Texas, to Rosario and Raul Rojas, Sr. He grew up in California and attended Mark Keppel High School in Alhambra. While completing his studies, he participated in wrestling, played football, and enjoyed surfing. He graduated high school in 1970.
From an early age, Arturo had a natural gift for carpentry and building-talents that shaped the course of his life and career.
Over the years, he worked as a carpenter, a building inspector for Fresno County, a construction superintendent for major developers, and ran his own general contracting business. He was known for his integrity, creativity, and unmatched work ethic. There was truly nothing he couldn't build or fix. Arturo built his life from the ground up with honesty, passion, and perseverance.
He connected with the love of his life and soulmate, Ruby, after high school while living in Kauai, Hawaii. They married on September 25, 1981, and together built a life centered around faith, family, and deeply held values.
Arturo loved the ocean and the outdoors and found joy in the beauty of nature. He enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, and watching sports. He loved reading and playing his harmonica. He was physically active throughout his lifetime, enjoying running, walking, and cycling. He loved music and could typically be found listening to his favorite artists while working in his yard. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend-generous, passionate, and always in motion, a true go-getter. He was quick witted and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his children El Cid Rojas, Deleon Rojas, and Soleil Burnett; his grandchildren Summer Rojas, Lorenzo Rojas, Andrew Rojas, and Diego Rojas; and his siblings Frances Rojas, Margie Stephenson, Jerry Rojas, and Rudy Rojas. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruby, his older brother Raul Rojas, Jr., and his mother Rosa Rojas.
Arturo will be remembered for the strength of his character, the warmth of his spirit, and the legacy of love and craftsmanship he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Rosary will be held on Monday, June 23rd at 6:00 p.m. at Farewell Funeral Service, located at 660 W. Locust Ave, Suite 101, Fresno, California 93650.
The Funeral Mass will take place the following morning, Tuesday, June 24th at 10:00 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Therese, 855 E. Floradora Ave, Fresno, California 93728.
Immediately following the service, a funeral procession will lead to St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, 264 N. Blythe Ave, Fresno, California 93706, for the burial. A private family reception will follow.
