Elsinore, Utah - With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, Arva Ann Johnson Brown, age 85, who peacefully left this world on January 10, 2025, at her home in Elsinore, surrounded by her devoted family and loved ones. By her side was her precious dog, Bailey.

Our mother thought this day would never come. She prayed daily to be relieved of the pain. We know without a doubt that she is happy and has been welcomed with open arms by family members that left before her.

Mom was born on December 31, 1939, in Elsinore, Utah, to Arvie LeRoy and Lella Gifford Johnson. She was the third daughter and the middle child in her family. She attended school in Elsinore and Monroe. She absolutely loved growing up in Elsinore and living by so many of her relatives.

Arva married the love of her life, Arland N. Brown September 1, 1956, in Sigurd, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple June 19, 1963. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2005.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Mom’s greatest joy was her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Arland Brown with whom she shared 49 wonderful years of marriage. Their love created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.

Mom worked at a few different jobs in her lifetime. One of the jobs that really made an impact in her life was working at Larsen’s Ace Hardware. Lowell and Thelma Larsen and family were so good to mom and treated her as if she was one of their own children.

Another place of employment that mom loved was working as a custodian for the Sevier School District. She had the opportunity to work at Red Hills Middle and Ashman Elementary. She built long-lasting relationships with the staff members. Their friendship meant so much to her. She absolutely adored the children that attended both schools.

Mom lived a life defined by love, kindness, and generosity. Mom’s love for tying quilts, making babies receiving blankets, and caring for others was an example to each of her children. Anytime she had any extra money, she was trying to find those that needed help or to find a way to make someone feel special.  Mom and Dad loved to take road trips and visit their grandkids.

Her deep faith and gentle spirit were guiding lights to all who knew her. Though she may no longer be with us in presence, Mom’s love will forever remain in our hearts. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Mom is survived by her nine children: Shelly and Jerry Twitchell, Wayde and Denise Brown,  Sharon and Pete Delpinia, Leslie Levie, Tasha and Larry Lawrence, Tanya and Clayton Gardiner, Russell and Paula Brown, Brett and Dana Brown, and Mike Brown. She was a proud and loving grandmother to 30 grandkids, 38 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren each of whom brought her endless pride and happiness. Mom delighted in celebrating their milestones, sharing stories, and offering her unwavering support.  She is also survived by her siblings: LaRee Hatch, Ken and Kathy Johnson, all of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mom is preceded in death by two great-grandchildren: Brittani Brown and Colton Adams; siblings: Ivo Johnson, Merle Johnson and June Leany; and a brother-in-law: Dale Hatch.

Mom’s service will be held in the Elsinore LDS Ward Chapel on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 A.M., where friends may call for viewing from 9:00 am to 10:30 prior to the services.

Live streaming of the services can be found at www:springerturner.com under Arva’s obituary about 15 minutes prior to starting time.

Burial will be in the Elsinore Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
