Arvell Leon Hunter, age 93 of Haleyville, passed away August 18, 2025 at Lakeland Community Hospital. He was born February 15, 1932 to Millard and Pearlie Hunter. Arvell was a hard worker and never stopped a day. He was still escorting oversized loads up until the covid pandemic. He was kind, loved yard work and gardening. Most of all, Arvell was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Visitation will be Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where the service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Thornhill Cemetery in Haleyville. Riley Holt will officiate. Arvell is survived by his wife Iva Jean Hunter; son, Thomas (Sandy) Hunter; stepdaughter, Carrie (Jeff) Price; stepson, Dwayne (Connie) Dodd; grandchildren, Shane (Michelle) Hunter, Chad Hunter, David Hunter, Seab Hunter, Anna Hunter, April Wood, Jessie McMhan, Alex (Lauren) Price and Nichole (Riley) Holt Keith Dodd, and Michelle Sorells; his best friend, his dog, Mikey Dodd; and a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Pearlie Hunter; first wife, Imogene Hunter; son, Dewayne Hunter; three brothers and three sisters.
