Arvella Majors Cox, a beloved mother, wife, and steadfast friend, departed this world on November 4, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on March 14, 1933, in the Bethlehem Community, Arvella was a vibrant soul whose presence had a profound impact on everyone she met.

An accomplished professional, Arvella spent many years dedicated to clerical work within health services and proudly served for 17 years as an assistant in the school system, demonstrating her commitment to both her career and the welfare of others. Her education paved the way for a lifetime of service and connection to her community.

Arvella's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life. She had an uncanny ability to make friends easily, sharing her warmth and kindness with countless individuals. Throughout her life, she immersed herself in her church, serving as a devoted Sunday school teacher and a tireless contributor to projects that benefited her congregation. Her sewing skills were legendary, as she lovingly created beautiful items not only for her church but also for Amory Public Schools, where she served with equal dedication.

Among her many passions were the joyful weeks spent with her family in Gatlinburg, where laughter and relaxation intertwined to create treasured memories. Arvella found immense joy in playing cards, especially bunko, sewing, cooking, and simply being with her family and friends. She cherished reading her Bible, which anchored her steadfast spirit and guided her in life’s journey.

Arvella belonged to several organizations, including the National Guard’s NCO and St. Andrew's Women's Club at her church. These affiliations allowed her to extend her love for community engagement and fellowship while nurturing strong bonds with those around her. Her closest friends—Mary Francis Salter, Margaret Clements, Karen Cox, and Irene Westbrook—were a testament to her loving nature and the deep connections she forged.

Her husband, Harold Bertan Cox, who lovingly shared 37 years of marriage with her, and their beloved children, Harold Bert Cox Jr. and Katherine Elizabeth Cox, preceded her, leaving her with a profound sense of loss that only a mother can fully understand. Arvella found solace in her cherished connection to her living son, Steven Lawrence Cox (Angelia), who now carries on her legacy.

As a woman of integrity, Arvella often imparted invaluable life lessons to those around her. She upheld the principles of doing what is right and being honest, lessons that will surely echo in the hearts of those she loved and inspired.

Arvella Majors Cox lived a life that radiated love, faith, and friendship. Her story is one of a devoted Christian, a loving family member, and a loyal friend. She leaves behind a beautiful tapestry of memories woven together with compassion and kindness that will forever be cherished by all who knew her.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
