Arvid LaMoyne Fouks, 89, died peacefully on March 24, 2025, at Golden Age Manor Nursing Home in Amery, Wisconsin.
Arvid was born at home on December 4, 1935 in Deer Park, Wisconsin to Leslie and Minnie (Evenson) Fouks. He attended grade school in Deer Park and New Richmond, then graduated high school in Amery in 1954. He joined the Army National Guard shortly thereafter, serving his country for six years.
Arvid met the love of his life Mary Ann (VanErp) while roller skating, and they went on to get married in 1957. They spent 50 wonderful years together before she passed in 2007. They had a son Arvid Jr. in 1960, then went on to adopt five more children over the next twenty years: Howard, Cindy, Diane, Heather and Heide. Arvid was a member of East Immanuel Lutheran Church, and dedicated his life to his family, his friends, and his faith.
He was a hard worker, and had a variety of jobs throughout his life, including owning his own lumberyard in Deer Park, working at F&A Dairy for more than 20 years, having a farm, and building cabinets in practically every home in the tri-county area (and he would remember where every one was built!).
In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and gardening. He treasured his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, often playing George Jones and country music records and dancing with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Ann, sons Arvid Jr. and Howard, sister Donna, and brother Gerald.
Left to mourn are daughters Heather (Quane) Huff, Heide (Jonathan) Walsh, and Diane (Jim) Stukel, two nieces, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and countless other family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, WI. Funeral services will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at East Immanuel Lutheran Church, Amery, WI, with a visitation one hour prior to the service and a luncheon after. Rev. Hillary Toulson will be officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park, WI.
