Ashley Elisha Abbott February 20, 1990 – December 17, 2024

Ashley Elisha Abbott, 34, of Moriarty, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024. She was born on February 20, 1990, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to a family who cherished and adored her from the moment she entered their lives.

Despite being diagnosed with cerebral palsy and given little hope of surviving beyond her third birthday, Ashley defied the odds with an incredible strength and resilience that left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. Though Ashley was non-verbal and had limited motor abilities, Ashley’s spirit spoke volumes through her radiant smile and joyful presence. Her ability to bring happiness and warmth into the lives of others was truly remarkable.

Ashley had a deep love for Westerns, particularly the classic, Walker, Texas Ranger series. She was thrilled to meet Chuck Norris, the star of the show, a moment she treasured throughout her life. Her love for old folk music and stuffed animals also brought her great comfort, and her affection for these things was a constant source of joy.

The bond Ashley shared with her "momma" (grandmother) was unbreakable. Their love for each other was a beautiful testament to the strength of family, and together they formed a loving and inseparable duo.

Ashley was preceded in death by her grandmother “momma”, Cindy Abbott; her grandfather “Papa”, Alden Cecil Abbott; her father, Darryl Abbott; her stepmother, Tina Abbott; and her sister, Samantha Abbott.

She is survived by her uncle and aunt, Brian and Martha Abbott; her uncle, Philip Abbott; her aunt, Eva Abbott; her siblings, Sarah Abbott and Christopher Abbott; her cousins, Michael Trainer, Paisley Pandolfo, Taylor Thurston, Laurel Thurston, Scott Abbott, Jennifer Abbott, Kassidy Abbott, Jessie Abbott, Sterling Pandolfo, and Andon Thurston.

Ashley’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, forever. She will be deeply missed by all who were touched by her vibrant spirit and the love she so freely gave.

Arnie Leidy will be officiating the funeral service. The services will be held at Harris Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty on December 21, 2024. Viewing will be held 10am-11am. Funeral services at 11:00 a.m. A burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. All are invited to join the family for food and refreshments at the Moriarty Lions Club after the burial.
