Ashley Garrett Messick, 46, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away on September 20, 2025.
Born and raised in Florence, Garrett was a beloved son, brother, nephew, and friend. He is survived by his mother, Joyce Messick; his brother, Tripp Messick; and his aunt and uncle, Nancy and Ron Kinlaw. He was preceded in death by his father, Ellison Messick, Jr.
Garrett was an Eagle Scout and a proud Mason, committed to service, tradition, and community. He graduated from Francis Marion University with a degree in physics and math. He was also a member of Saint Paul Church of Florence, South Carolina. He worked at SIMCO Electronics in the Richardson, Texas area, where he contributed to calibration and repair services. He was known for his love of strategy games, especially Magic: The Gathering, and for the deep bond he shared with his dog, Ella, who brought him great joy. His quick wit, kind heart, and loyal nature will be remembered by all who knew him.
Garrett will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
The family will receive friends and family Monday, September, 29, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM.
Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.

I was Garrett's second-grade teacher at Savannah Grove. He was such a sweet child and a good student. I know that you were very proud of him and that you will miss him terribly!
