Assunta DiVirgilio, lovingly known as Sue or Susie by her many friends, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. Born in the small town of Salle, Italy, in the region of Abruzzo on January 4, 1934, Assunta was a woman of warmth, grace, and devotion.
A woman who loved to cook, bake, crochet, and entertain, Assunta found joy in nurturing and caring for those around her. Her home was always filled with the delightful aromas of her cooking and the laughter of family and friends. Assunta cherished her faith deeply, regularly attending Mass and praying the rosary, finding comfort and strength in her spiritual life.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Fileno, whom she married on June 21, 1956, and who passed away on February 22, 2013. Assunta's love for him remained unwavering throughout their years together. She leaves behind her devoted daughters, Lucy (late husband Tom) and Anna, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, and Kelsey. Assunta is also survived by her adored nieces and nephews and many dear friends who were like family.
Assunta's kind heart, deep faith, and the joy she brought to those around her will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, warmth, and hospitality will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
