Athanasios John Triantis
September 2, 1942 – October 11, 2022
As a Greek immigrant that came here from Greece, Athanasios John Triantis, was born in Patras Greece to John and Voula Triantis. The third of four children, Athanasios was raised with his older sister Athena, and later younger brother Demitrios. Growing up in Patras Greece, Athanasios made lifelong friends which he cherished.
Athanasios served in the Greek Army and in the Greek merchant marines traveling all over the world.
He came to the United States to New Port News, Virginia in January 1968 at the age of 26. He then searched out for his lifelong family friend Athanasios Stefanopoulos in Fresno, California.
In March 1968, Athanasios "Tom" arrived in Fresno, California, where he was introduced by his lifelong family friend, Athanasios Stefanopoulos to Connie Dena Strusis. In August 1968, Athanasios and Dena got married and lived in Fresno, California until 1972 when they relocated to Kerman, California to open their restaurant "Toms Burger Hut" which they ran for over 25 years.
In 1975, Athanasios and Dena Triantis welcomed, loved and adored the birth of their daughter Voula.
Athanasios and Dena became proud grandparents to Andrianna Armack in 1998 and Christiana Armack in 2000.
Athanasios was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, he loved to sing in the choir and loved to chant. In 2013, he was awarded "Father of the Year" by St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
Athanasios loved family friends and had a gentle heart. His joy centered around his family and friends cooking, gardening, and dining out with his family, and was respected and loved by all who met him.
Athanasios will be eternally missed and will always be in our hearts and minds.
Athanasios is preceded by his parents John and Voula Triantis, his sister Sophia Triantis, his in-laws Andrew and Georgia Strusis, his nephew John Triantis, his sister-in-law Marie Dortch, and his brother-in-law Louie Strusis.
He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 55 years, Dena Triantis, his daughter Voula Preovolos whom he loved and adored, and her husband Nick Preovolos, his granddaughters Andrianna and Christiana Armack whom he loved and adored very much, Dustin "James" Hergenroeder, and Matthew Samarin, and he loved the company of his granddaughters' dogs, Mocha and Bella.
He is also survived by his sister Athena Gala and family, his brother Dimitrios and wife Kim, his sister-in-law Elaine and Christos Tekelidis and family, brother-in-law David Dortch and family, and his sister-in-law Jackie Strusis and family.
In lieu of flowers remembrances in Tom's name may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church or to the Holy Monastery of the Theotokos the Life Giving Spring.
