Gladys and the Syed family,
I first met Dr. Syed in 1988 when I took an Algebra class with him as part of an electronics course. As a result Dr. Pezeshki (Math Department Chair) hired me to be a math tutor while I continued my electronics classes. A short time later Mr. Hobbs (Dean of Instruction) and Dr. Pezeshki hired me to be a Physics Lab Assistant working under Dr. Syed.
Prior to attending TSTC, I worked for the Air Force Reserve as a Flight Engineer and for Valero Oil and Gas as a Cathodic Protection Specialist. I thoroughly enjoyed both jobs.
However, my job under Dr. Syed became much more enjoyable and rewarding, as I found myself constantly learning from him.
Dr Syed had an in-depth knowledge and understanding of both Math and Physics, and he possessed a unique and effective way of imparting the knowledge to his students which kept them interested and learning.
Dr Syed was more than a friend, he was a mentor, and part of me feels an emptiness over losing him.
