Aubrey Burns Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Idalou on Jan. 4, 2026.
Aubrey Don Burns was born on November 3,1953 to Adon and Carla in Paducah, Texas. He was the eldest among his 4 siblings and was lovingly referred to as "Bub". His childhood was full of cousins and friends for which he held deep admiration throughout his entire life. Early on, many moves with the oilfield gave Aubrey Don ample opportunities to learn the value of hard work. His mechanical mind soaked in all there was to know about operating equipment, working on engines, and his true love: driving truck. The moment he was able to use a clutch he earned the handle Capgun.

Aubrey's love of women began at home with a mother who doted on her boys and raised them to become men of faith and hard work. In her later years she was still making him endless chocolate chip cakes, beans and cornbread, bologna sandwiches, and breakfast every morning. There was never a time when he yelled, "Momma, where's the…." she didn't have whatever it was waiting for him.

His love of trucking came from his Daddy. All too early, he was driving cross-country to places he remembered fondly alongside lifetime friends who became more like family. He told a story of the Florida coast often, and spoke of MANY trips to California and South Texas.

When he was at his best, he knew his children and grandchildren were the true gifts he was given. Though he often fell short of what he felt his family deserved, he never doubted that and only spoke of them all with tears in his eyes.

Aubrey Don had a gift for prayer. He knew Jesus loved him and if he asked, it would be given. He frequently prayed healing over those he knew and some he didn't. Having known many with various afflictions he was well practiced in asking for help from his savior, though it was very rarely a request for himself.

After many years of being sick, Aubrey Don's body succumbed to Cancer in the early morning hours of January 3, 2026. Because of his faith in Jesus we believe he will meet again his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, sister, nephew, great nephew and countless friends.

He is survived by his wife (Vonda), his siblings (Laprell, Jimmy Jack, Kayla, and their spouses), his Children (Kara, Lee, Cass, Justin, Ricky, and their spouses), many grandchildren, his Aunt Hallie, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends who he considered family.

Bub was adamant he did not want a funeral and insisted upon cremation. We believe the only way he'd choose to be honored is by donation to your local church or Faith City Mission in Amarillo, Texas.
