Audra Faye Culp Age 89 years departed this life peacefully in her sleep on December 9th, 2024 at The Oaks at Eagles Landing in Stockbridge GA. She was born in McNeil Arkansas February 26, 1935 to the late James and Earlie Mae Earley.
In 1943 she moved with her family to Muskegon Heights Michigan where the family became members of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. It was there Audra met and later married the love of her life Arldon Culp. They married October 31, 1953 and were inseparable for nearly 69yrs until his death October 12, 2021. They raised 3 children together: Pamela Culp-Peacock, Arldon Duane Culp, and Kimberly (Culp) Jenkins. They were also blessed with 3 grandchildren: Trevor Culp, Sierra Peacock, and Savannah Jenkins; and 4 great grandchildren.
Audra was a graduate of Muskegon Heights High School and has been a long-time member of New Light Baptist church where she continued to receive communion at her home when she was no longer physically able to attend. It is a church she loved and referenced often. She found much peace, love and comfort there.
Audra worked for many years for the phone company GTE (now Verizon) working her way up from toll room operator to a national regional executive manager overseeing 3 states of employees. After retiring from the phone company at age 49, Audra attended grand valley state University receiving a Bachelors degree in education. She was a beloved 1st grade teacher at Oakview elementary school in Muskegon for over 10 years before retiring.
Even in retirement Audra kept busy traveling and being the family matriarch that so many considered a second mom. She loved planning big family gatherings over the holidays and providing a listening ear to those that needed advice and support. She enjoyed being a mom to everyone and she will be dearly missed.
Audra was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arldon Culp, daughter Pamela Culp-Peacock, siblings: Alonzo Earley, Christine Mason, Franklin Earley, and Alvern Jones.
The family is grateful for the 89yrs Audra touched and influenced their lives. She is survived by 2 Children: Arldon Duane Culp of Sparta, MI and Kimberly (Culp) Jenkins of McDonough, GA; 3 grandchildren: Trevor Culp of Grand Rapids, MI, Sierra Peacock of Muskegon Michigan and Savannah Jenkins of McDonough, Georgia; 4 great grandchildren; and 4 siblings: Ruthel Sanders of Hampton, VA, Barbara Hughley of California, Darnell Earley of Lansing Michigan, and Douglas Earley of California; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
Homegoing services will Be held December 21, 2024 at Kingdom Embassy Covenant Church 3025 Glenside Blvd,
Muskegon, MI 49441. Visitation at 11am.
Service at 12noon. Internment: Mona View Cemetery. Repast at the church: following internment.
