Audrey Babb Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lewis Crematory & Funeral Services, Myrtle Beach on Dec. 22, 2025.
Audrey Mae Babb, age 72, was born in Florence, SC, on June 30, 1953, to Eugene and Bonnie Walsh. She is preceded in death by her mom, Naomi Bonnie Barrington(Walsh), and her father, Eugene Porter Walsh, Sr. Her brothers are Viren Walsh, Eugene Walsh Jr, and her sister, Carolyn Walsh (Sharpe). Her husband, William Babb Sr., and her son, William Babb Jr. She leaves two living daughter,s Melissa Babb(Bacon) and Victoria Babb. She also leaves her grandchildren, Johnwilliam, Abigail, Eleanor, and Mary Caroline Bacon, behind. She is also survived by her special nieces, Mary Alice, King, Katherine, and Daphne.

Mae loved to go on adventures with her friends until she met William Babb. They had a love written about in romance tales. Pretty soon, they had a son, William Babb, Jr. Five years later came a little girl, Melissa Babb(Bacon). Mae worked nights as a CNA in the Medical ICU at McLeod while attending Florence Darlington Technical School for Nursing. She balanced being a mom, work, and school with grit and determination. After she graduated Nursing, she worked in the McLeod Neonatal Intensive Care Unit caring for the premature babies. She often came home talking about how many babies were given up and unwanted because of their complex medical conditions. Mae loved them all, even convincing her husband that they needed to adopt a child. So 19 years later, a sweet, beautiful baby crawled right up to her. Victoria Babb was then part of their family. People who knew her knew that family was very important to her.

Mae was a fiery redhead with a temper and personality to match. She lived her life out loud. She was the life of the party and often had her friends in tears.

Southern Heritage and tradition were strongly valued. You were always welcomed and offered a drink when you walked in her door.

Her faith was also very important to her as she loved to watch Billy Graham. She understood the sacrifice that Jesus made for all of us.

So it is with sad and glad hearts that she took her last Earthy breath on December 17, 2025.

Her family requests that you share fond memories, as they will be doing the same. Mae did not want to dwell on the sadness of death, so she requested no service at her passing. She knew she would not be here but with her heavenly father. Reunited with all her loved ones who had left before her.

Her family would like to recognize TSCU of McLeod Hospital and the McLeod Hospice House for the exceptional care they provided. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Babb is entrusted to Kelvin F. Lewis, the funeral director, and the Lewis Crematory & Funeral Home staff of Myrtle Beach, SC. (843) 294-0011.
