Audrey Mae Clemon

Mother Audrey Mae Majette Clemon, 84, affectionally called "Sister" by her siblings went home to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. She was the wife of Kelly Clemon for 63 years.
She was born Friday, July 19, 1940 to the late Moses Majette Sr. and Isabel (Johnson) Majette, in Suffolk, Virginia where she was raised and educated.
She attended The Mary Estes Elementary School and graduated from East Suffolk High School class of 1958. She also attended Virginia State College. Mother moved to Connecticut in 1961 and married her high school sweetheart Kelly Clemon Sr. on June 10, 1961. They have been married for 63 years. From this union was born Cornelia D.(Thane)Gibbs of Virginia, and Curtis J. (Stacy) Clemon of New Jersey. Dexter M. Clemon and Chivonna D.(Donald) Clemon-Curry both of Connecticut.
Mother Clemon was a stay at home mom and wife that took very good care of her family. She was a skill seamstress, and she took pride in tending to her beautiful flower garden outside her home. Mother Clemon work for many years babysitting in her home for her family and others throughout the community, she was also a caregiver working for the NOW under the senior companion division as a CNA until 2018 when she became ill. She was a woman of few words with a meek and quiet spirit.
Mother Clemon was appointed and served for many years as the Church Mother of the Mount Olive Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Wilbert M. Chapman Sr. and Supervisor Mother Helen Chapman where she attended for over 60 years. She also served as President of the usher board, building fund president, a member of the finance committee and also as a Prayer and Bible Band Vice President and YPWW teacher. She was a faithful servant and a great support to her church. Mother was also a great support to the State and National work of the church, attending the Convocations and Women's Conventions.
To mourn her loss, she leaves behind two sisters: Velma James of Maryland and Shretta (Wayne) Taylor of South Carolina. Four brothers: James Majette Sr. and Daniel (Mary) Majette both of Maryland, Steve Majette Sr. and Richard (Linda) Majette both of Connecticut. Nine grandchildren (Akeem, Brandon, Courtney, Eimahni, Jarrin, Jalyssa, Cameron, Dajanae., and Kaylin) and three great grandchildren. And a host of nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased in death by her son Kelly Clemon Jr. and her siblings: Moses (Ernestine) Majette Jr. and William Majette Sr.,and Linnis (Arthur) Robinson.
