Audrey Jane Burgin Hazelgren

Bountiful, UT-Audrey Jane Burgin Hazelgren passed away on the morning of December 8, 2025, peacefully in her home and surrounded by family. She was born on March 9, 1932, in Grace, Idaho, to Lawrence Burgin and Mildred Nellie Hansen. She was preceded in death by her siblings LaMar Burgin, Josephine Gardner, and Florence McCulloch, and is survived by her three children: Mark (Linda), Paul (Alison), and Karen, and seven grandchildren: Matthew, Ryan, Nicole, Gary, Amanda, Blake and Candace.

A 1950 graduate of Grace High School and Utah State University, she excelled academically and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She graduated in 1954 with a degree in secondary education, specializing in home economics. She began teaching in 1954, and later at Bountiful Junior High and South Davis Junior High until her retirement. A beloved educator, her students remembered her dedication, creativity, and the practical life skills she imparted with patience and care.

In 1956, Audrey married Gary Hyrum Hazelgren. Though the marriage ended in divorce in 1972, Audrey raised her three children with grace, resilience, and determination. Her life was marked by quiet strength, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to education, faith, and family. She never complained, always persevered, was very generous and forgiving and never held a grudge. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as a temple worker at the Bountiful Temple and served a mission in the Family History Library.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street, Bountiful, Utah. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the LDS Chapel located at 1476 North 300 West in Bountiful. Interment will be at Centerville City Cemetery following the funeral services.
