Audrey "Janie" Slaughter Norris

Audrey “Janie” Jane Slaughter Norris, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Beacon Place in Greensboro. She was born on August 21, 1942 in Durham County to the late Thomas Irving Slaughter and Dorothy Florine Black Slaughter, and was the wife of 36 years to the late Kenneth Sidney Norris who died in 2010.

Janie retired from LabCorp in the accounts receivable department. She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church. She loved her church and the Lord, loved being active with her church family and spending time with her family and friends. She also loved keeping in touch with her family and friends via Facebook!

Her family is eternally grateful for the unconditional love and care provided by Leslie Dawson, Wanda Mincey, her church family and the entire staff at AuthoraCare.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Tammy Norris Woody and husband Todd; grandchildren, Christopher Woody and Chelsea Emery and husband Brandon; great grandson Dawson Chase Emery (born on the day God took Janie home); Corkey Slaughter (brother), Coy Norris (Renate), Larry Norris (Linda), Danny Norris (Cindy), Carl Norris (Jan), Tony Norriss (Mary) and several nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved so dearly.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, brothers & sisters in law, Rose Slaughter, Jean Scott, Annie Surles, Patsy Mitchell, Emma Overman, Wayne Norris, Fred Norris, Earl Norris, Jerry Norris, CJ Norris Jr and her beloved dog Bozo.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tommy Bright with the burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 12:30pm Saturday prior to the service.
