Audrey Poe, the best mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026. Audrey lived 95 beautiful years. She was a determined soul and the very picture of what a strong woman should resemble.
She was the next to the youngest out of six children and the last surviving member of her family. She was born in 1930, during the great depression, which taught her to be very resourceful. She passed these traits on to her legacy to “not live beyond your means” and to be appreciative for you have, especially family. She held the titles of waitress, and cleaning lady, but the titles she held most dear were wife, mother, grandmother and great great grandmother or as the kids called her, “GG”.
Audrey was mother to Roger, Barbara, and Sharon; she was grandmother to: William, Heather, Brian and the late David. She was great grandmother to: Garrett, Ben, Madi and Mason; and she was great great grandmother to Liv and arriving soon, Beckett.
How can we sum up a person’s life in a few paragraphs? We can’t, but her kindness, generosity, and love have touched the lives of many, and she will live forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 1-2 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 with Pastor Russ Strange officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
