Audrey Howell West

Audrey Howell West, 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at UNC Wayne Health in Goldsboro. Audrey was born on April 10, 1946, in Wayne County to the late Jack and Louise Jenkins Howell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry West, and her sister, Peggy Lancaster.

Audrey devoted her life to her family and to the land they farmed together. She faithfully handled the accounting for West Family Farms and was instrumental in every part of its operations. Her dedication and leadership were recognized when she was honored as the Outstanding Woman in Agriculture by Wayne County-a reflection of her tireless work ethic, deep knowledge, and unwavering commitment to farming.

A woman of strong faith, Audrey was a devoted member of Pleasant Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, where she cherished the fellowship of worshiping her Lord. She was known for her kind heart, steadfast spirit, and the joy she found in simple blessings. Above all, Audrey was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by her family, especially during times when everyone was gathered together on the farm she loved so dearly.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Audrey's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Stallings officiating. Interment will follow in the West Family Cemetery on the family farm.

Audrey is survived by her sons, Brad West and wife, Lynn, and Craig West and wife, Nell; grandchildren, Ayden West, Addison West, Lee West and wife, Madison, and Luke West; sister, Carolyn Parris; and several nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
