August A Monnier Jr.

August "Augie" A. Monnier, Jr., age 83 of the Parlin section of Sayreville passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, at JFK University Medical Center in Edison. Born in Jersey City, he had resided in Parlin for the past 49 years.

Augie was a proud US Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he dedicated 40 years of his career as an airline mechanic, most recently with ABX Air in Newark and previously for 21 years with Eastern Airlines. Aviation was not just his profession, but a lifelong passion that brought him great joy and a deep sense of fascination.

In his free time, Augie was a talented wood craftsman and he enjoyed building model airplanes and completing puzzles. He also cherished the time he spent with his late St Bernard, Annie. A heart transplant recipient, Augie was blessed with 22 additional years of life – time he treasured, especially as he witnessed two of his children marry and shared special time with his only grandchild, Claire. He will be deeply missed by his loving family.

He is predeceased by his parents August Sr. and Alma Monnier; his sister Alma Passaro; and his brother-in-law John Ottino. Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Eileen Monnier; his children Monique Monnier, Brian Monnier and his wife Dawn, and Michelle Monnier and her husband William Bonnell; his granddaughter Claire; his sister June Johnson and her husband Ray; his sister and brother-in-law Mary and Michael White; his brother-in-law Orlando Milan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will take place on Tuesday from 3pm to 7pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin. Burial will be on Wednesday, starting at 10am from the funeral home followed by an 11:30am interment at Brigadier General Wiliam C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.

In honor of Augie's personality, the family invites guests to memorialize him by dressing in a way that reflects how they knew him best – whether that be flannels, jeans, hoodies, or other casual attire.
