Arthur "Peter" Hagan III, 85, of Jacksonville, went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 29, 2025, surrounded by his daughter's.
He was born on July 11, 1940, in
Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Arthur Peter Hagan, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Hagan.
Peter was a Man of God, relying on Him and trusting His plan even when things were tough. He would witness the word of God any chance that he had. When he would introduce himself, he would say, "My name is Peter, fisher of men". Peter was proud to be a Man of God.
Peter enrolled in the United States Navy, retiring in June of 1980, after 22 years of dedicated service as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Throughout his military career, he received numerous medals and awards such as, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, National Defense Service Medal, 4 Good Conduct Awards, and was a .45 caliber pistol expert along with an M-1 rifle expert. While in the Navy, he was an aircraft maintenance non-destructive inspector and Inert-gas arc welder. A few years after he retired from the Navy, he received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice and became a Sergeant at Brevard County Jail in Cocoa, Florida. He lived his life of service to others, later being an advocate for the homeless in
Jacksonville, Florida. Peter was a Master Mason/Scottish Rite, Shriners and loved the outdoors, especially hunting and his favorite pastime was fishing, dancing and singing karaoke at Fifty-Seven Heaven. Peter lived his life serving others and will be missed by those he served and helped. He would want everyone to know that he lived a long and happy life.
In addition to his parents, Arthur Peter Hagan, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Hagan, he was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Sharyn Rix Hagan; two ex-wives, Lanelle Hagan and Barbara Francis Hagan; his brothers, Archie Hagan, Mark Hagan, and Paul Hagan; sister, Pamela Hagan; stepmother, Cleo Hagan.
Left to cherish the many memories include his beloved children, Patricia Kimpson, Tracey (Chris) Fox, Dean Joynt and Steve Joynt; grandchildren, Roxy Rodriguez, Paula Stephenson, Phillip Hagan, Brittany Campbell, Grace (Philip) Holcomb, Nicholas Fox, Brianna (Austin) Spencer, Cheryl Joynt, Carla Helms and Jacob Helms; great grandchildren, Nevaeh Collier, Aaliyah Stephenson, Addison Botticelli, Gunner Bryan, Daphne Passaretti, Malachi Campbell, River Holcomb, August Holcomb, Jordin Perschke, Gabriel Spencer, Emmett Spencer, Teagan Spencer, Rhett Todd, and Everett Diaz.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at a later date.
The family would like to send special thanks to Peter's good friends, Josie Norcio and Jimmy Greene, for everything that they did for Peter while he lived out his last few years in
Jacksonville, Florida.
