Austin Heaton Corley

Graveside services for Austin Heaton Corley, 82, of Lexington, SC, will be held at 10am Wednesday, October 19, 2005, at Southland Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev. Robert Kelley. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Mr. Corley died Sunday, October 16, 2005. Born in Lexington County, SC, he was the son of the late George Lee Corley and Lutecia Gunter Corley. Mr. Corley was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He served as a surgical technician with the Headquarters Battery, 865th Antiaircraft Artillery, Automatic Weapons Battalion and was the recipient of various medals. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and was retired from Continental Trailway Busline. Mr. Corley loved fishing, deer hunting, and gardening and was a diehard Braves fan.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Nina S. Corley of Lexington; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Denis O’Neill of Columbia; sons and daughter-in-law, Stephen Corley of Cairo, NY, Dennis and Patricia Corley of Greer, Jeffrey Corley of Syracuse, NY; sister, Madaline Lawrence of Fairbanks, Alaska; brothers and sisters-in-law, Odell Corley of Pelion, J.C. Corley, M.C. and Joyce Corley, Robert and Gertrude Corley, all of West Columbia; grandchildren, Michael and Kyle O’Neill, Ashley, Zack, and Nicholas Corley; and great grandchild, Miranda Corley.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Love of Carolina Pulmonary Care, Dr. Rodney Rhinehart of Columbia Heart Clinic, as well as Wacanda and Charlene of Heartland Hospice.

Mr. Corley was predeceased by brothers, Leo, Pete, Woodrow, and sister, Gwen.
