AUSTIN HAYES Obituary

HAYES, Austin "Joe," 78, of Hopewell, passed away on June 28, 2012. He was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, the son of Daniel J. and Katherine Nagle Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a Vietnam War veteran who retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service, he also retired from Suitt Construction in Hopewell in 2000. He was a member of Saint Martin of Tours Catholic Parish at Ft. Lee, Va. Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife, Sakiko Hayes; sons, Michael Hayes and his wife, Missy; their children, Michael and Mary; Edward Hayes and his wife, Lynn; Richard Hayes and his wife, Anne, their children, Ryan, Lucas and Rachel; Dr. John Hayes and his wife, Dr. Sandy Rozar, their children Justin and Julianna; his daughter, Katherine Hayes St. Onge and her husband, Robert, their children, Kristine and Jakob; his sisters Helen Dempsey of Haverhill, Massachusetts and Lillian LeVasseur of Bradford, Massachusetts. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at St. James Catholic Church, 510 W. Poythress Street, Hopewell. Immediately following, the family will receive friends until 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012 at St. James Catholic Church with Chaplain Captain Thomas Kirchhoefer officiating. Interment will follow at Appomattox Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to Hospice of Virginia at http://www.ahhospicefoundation.org/donation-page, or St. James Catholic Church, Hopewell, Va. Condolences may be registered online at www.jtmorriss.com.
