Austin Mahon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 12, 2026.
Austin Xavier Mahon, formerly of Hingham and Winchester, passed away peacefully on March 7 at the age of 66 at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, surrounded by his family after a courageous one-year battle with kidney cancer.

Austin built a successful career in the medical field, working with cardiac devices and later recruiting top medical professionals for hospitals across the country. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose greatest joy was time spent with his family.

He loved the beach, basking in the sun, the occasional cigar, the NY Yankees and spending time with family. Known for his quick wit and playful pranks, Austin had a legendary sense of humor and delighted in making others laugh. To his six grandchildren, he was lovingly known as "Ace."

He is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Kerry; his five children-Carter, Aimee, Emma, Meghan, and Hudson; six grandchildren; and his brothers Tim, John, and Colin. He was predeceased by his parents, Ann and John.

A private celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Cancer Association (www.kidneycancer.org).

Rest in peace, Austin. You will be deeply missed.

I am very sad to hear the news of Austin's passing. I knew him from Winchester and graduated with him in the class of '77. Will remember his warm smile, calm demeanor and quick wit. My sincere condolences to his family. RIP Austin.
