Austin James Thomas, affectionately known as "Aj," was born on July 15, 1993, in Sarasota, Florida. He departed this world on November 2, 2025, in Rawlins, Wyoming, surrounded by the love of his family, particularly his beloved mother, Darcie Elkie. Aj's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with kindness, creativity, and a profound dedication to those he cherished.
For a decade, Aj passionately worked as a chef, starting from the bottom and rising to the esteemed position of head chef. His culinary journey was marked by an unwavering commitment to his craft, culminating in his proud accomplishment of starting his own lawn and care business. Cooking holiday dinners brought him immense joy, as it was in those moments that he reveled in the company of family and friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Aj was not only a master in the kitchen but also crafted intricate tattoos for his friends and family, each inked piece a testament to his affection and artistic spirit. His heart was as vast as his talents; Aj greeted everyone with a warm, "How you doin darlin?" His kindness was infectious, as was his eagerness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
A deep love for motorcycles coursed through his veins, and he found camaraderie and joy riding alongside his club brothers. Whether on the open road or sharing laughter with loved ones, Aj embraced every moment with exuberance and positivity.
His journey took a heartbreaking turn when he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer on August 24, 2025. Despite the weight of this diagnosis, Aj remained fiercely optimistic, fighting with spirit until the very end. His final days were spent at home, surrounded by the unwavering support of his mother, whose place in his heart surpassed all others.
Family meant everything to Aj. He was overjoyed to reunite with his sister Marlee and his nephew Hunter, cherishing the time they spent together in the same area as their mother this past year. He is survived by an extended family that includes his mom, Darcie Elkie his father, Lloyd Thomas, his sisters, Marlee Thomas and Ashley Dones, along with Ashley's children, his nephew Hunter Contois, and nieces Lindsay Williams and Alyssa Snow and his Aunt Kathy Thomas. He will also be lovingly remembered by his fiancé Ashley Lawson and her children and all his cousins in Florida.
As we remember Aj, let us celebrate his legacy of love, creativity, and resilience. He leaves behind not just a collection of memories but a rich inheritance of kindness that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Aj’s spirit will forever ride alongside us, a reminder of the beauty of living life with courage and passion. Rest in peace, dear Aj. Your journey may have ended, but your light will continue to shine in our hearts.
