Janie Roche, 65, passed away Friday, April 29, 2022 at Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 11:30AM at North's Funeral Home Chapel, 242 Orange St. Abilene,Texas. Burial will follow at Texas Veterans Cemetery, 7457 West Lake Road, Abilene, TX at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 6PM to 8PM at North's Funeral Home.
Janie was born on May 4, 1956 in Abilene, Texas to Calvin James (deceased) and Alva Jean Hudson of Abilene. She married the love of her life Joseph Roche, Sr. on July 6,1980. They have two children, Angie Rolin and Joseph Roche, Jr.; and four amazing grandchildren, Amberly Fry; Chris Smith; Landra Roche; and Reed Roche.
Janie was a graduate of Abilene High School and later she returned to work in the Special Education Department at Abilene High School from which she retired after 30 years of service. She influenced the lives of many students during those years. She was tough but patient and displayed loving care, understanding, and empathy for each child. She was well loved by so many of her students. Janie had a fierce and passionate love for her family and her school kids which she treated like family. She became "Nana" to many young people in the Abilene area.
Janie is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Joseph Roche, Sr. of Abilene; one daughter, Angie Rolin and husband Andy of Abilene; one son, Joseph Roche, Jr. of Abilene and wife Lacey; her mother, Alva Jean Hudson of Abilene; and four sisters, Darla Callison and husband Victor of Abilene; Darlene Tavera of Abilene; Janet Proffitt of Abilene and husband Dan; and Cathy Morales of Abilene and Barry Lackey; Grandchildren Chris Smith and wife Tiffany of Hodges,Texas; Amberly Fry and husband Jordan of Abilene; Landra Roche, Reed Roche; and three amazing great grandchildren, Branson Smith; Gatlyn Fry and Brexlynn Fry and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Calvin James Hudson.
