RICHARD "BARRY" ROCHE Jr.

1937 - 2026

ROCHE, Richard Barry Jr. Of Mashpee, MA, formerly of Milton, MA, passed away peacefully, on February 3, 2026. He was the son of the late Margaret (Hart) Roche and Richard Roche, Sr. of Brighton, MA. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marie E. (Foley) Roche in 2019. Dick graduated from Boston College High School and Boston College Class of 1959. He was very proud to be called a "Double Eagle." He served our country in the Marine Corps after his college graduation. He then enjoyed a long career in the Marine insurance industry. He was the Co-Founder and President of Customhouse Marine Insurance Agency in Boston, MA. Dick served on the Town of Milton, MA Warrant Commission, was a Coach in the Milton Youth Hockey program, was a former Board member of the Popponesset Beach Association, and was a former President of the Neighborhood Club of Quincy. He was a longtime member of The New Seabury Country Club and The Milton-Hoosic Club. Dick loved playing tennis, golf, and spending time with family and friends in Popponesset Beach, He was a loving father, brother, and proud "Pa" to his grandchildren. He will be missed dearly. He is survived by his three children, John M. Roche and his wife, Mildred of Spartanburg, SC, Patricia A. McKelvey and her husband, Greg of Mashpee, MA and Julie A. Simplicio and her husband, Chip of West Hartford, CT; his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Julie Roche of Mahtomedi, MN; his 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 10:30 AM, at Christ the King Church, 5 Jobs Fishing Rd., in Mashpee. Burial will immediately follow at Great Neck Woods Cemetery, in Mashpee.
